Jeff Noedel invented modern daily news in Hermann, Missouri in 2008. Noedel created an online newspaper in March 2008 focused on his small hometown of Berger, Mo. A few months later, Noedel shifted the focus of his news reporting to neighboring Hermann, Mo. and named the site HermannMuenster.com. The two sites were merged at that time.
Noedel grew the audience with daily reporting, feature photos and aggressive promotions. Today, HermannMuenster/CountyNewsLIVE.com is one of the most successful small-town new media news franchises in America, with about 9,000 people visiting per month, a base of nearly 250 paid subscribers ($19.95 per year), and nearly 100 advertisers.
Noedel, 51, spent most of his career in advertising, public relations and producing television. From 1986 to 2009, Noedel owned and operated a public relations and advertising agency in St. Louis. Long-term clients included Fleischmann's Yeast, Karo Corn Syrup, Argo Corn Starch, Dierbergs Markets, Commerce Bank, and Brooks Fiber Communications.
For the last 11 years of his agency work, most of Noedel's creative output was food writing and directing professional food photography. Noedel's writing was carried by more than 2,000 U.S. newspapers, generating editorial impressions in the hundreds of millions.
Beginning in 1981, Noedel produced a wide range of broadcast television and radio, corporate video, CD-ROM, and Internet video projects. His TV news productions have been seen on television stations around the U.S.; TV commercials written, produced and directed by Noedel have been aired widely in the St. Louis TV market.
Now, Noedel is supporting journalists who are starting small-town daily news sites around the U.S. through the website www.Noedel.com.
